Happy New Printers!

Todd Watson, K College Chief Information Officer

Happy New Year from Information Services!

Over this past month we have been busy upgrading many older Xerox copiers and HP printers around campus with new multi-function Canon units that provide many new features for students and employees alike. This is part of a multi-year effort to modernize our print/copy fleet while improving service quality, functionality, and also reducing costs.

One exciting new feature is the new Find-Me print queue provided by our PaperCut print service. Find-Me allows print jobs to be submitted, and then released using your college ID card while at any of the new Canon printers. This provides for secure printing in addition to the flexibility of printing from anywhere on-campus and picking up the print when/where convenient.

Don’t have your college ID card handy? There is also a way to release prints from the PaperCut web interface for those times. Find-Me printing is a great option, but not required – you may still print directly to printers if you choose to.

Many of the kinks have been worked out over the past few weeks with the new units; however, we know there will be issues, questions, and concerns related to the new systems.  Please report issues to Help.Desk@kzoo.edu, or contact the Help Desk directly if you have printing trouble in the coming week(s).  We appreciate your patience while we get early issues worked out.

To answer more of your questions and to access more details, please visit Printing and Copying on the IS website.

Information Services would like to announce that print credits can now be transferred through Papercut!

All you’ll need is the exact username (not email address) of the person you would like to transfer print credits to. For further instruction visit the Student Print Credits section on the Printing page.

For additional information on print credits please connect with a Supervisor at the Circulation Desk or email Circulation@kzoo.edu.
