What is eduroam?
The eduroam network is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.
The eduroam network allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop.
Connecting to eduroam at K
iOS – iPhone and iPad
Here’s how K students, faculty, and staff can join the eduroam network on an iOS device like an iPhone or iPad. These instructions assume you have a data connection. No data? Get temporary internet access to start.
Remember this special format for entering your username:
- username@knet.kzoo.edu like k12ab34@knet.kzoo.edu or khornet@knet.kzoo.edu
- Make sure you’re connected to the internet already (use data for a few minutes). If you want, you can get temporary internet access to start.
- Use Safari to visit eduroam CAT to download the eduroam installer. There, you will:
- Tap to download the Kalamazoo College eduroam installer
- Choose “Kalamazoo College” as your organization
- Tap “Apple iOS mobile devices”
- Allow the download of a configuration profile for your device
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Select “General,” Select “Profile,” Select eduroam
- Tap “Install” to install the profile
- Enter your pin number
- Select install (located in the top right corner)
- When prompted, enter your username in the special format:
- username@knet.kzoo.edu like k12ab34@knet.kzoo.edu or khornet@knet.kzoo.edu
- When prompted, enter your KNET password
- Tap “Done”
- If necessary, forget the KCollegeOpen network
Android – Phones and Tablets
Here’s how K students, faculty, and staff can join the eduroam network on an Android device like a phone or tablet. These instructions assume you have a data connection. No data? Get temporary internet access to start. These instructions were written based on a Samsung Galaxy with Android 8.1 Oreo. Details may vary.
- Make sure you’re connected to the internet already (use data for a few minutes). If you want, you can get temporary internet access to start.
- Get the eduroamCAT application for Android. You don’t need to open it yet.
- Visit eduroam CAT. There, you will:
- Tap to download your eduroam installer
- Choose Kalamazoo College
- Tap the button for your Android version (like Android 8.0 Oreo)
- Tap “Continue”
- Open the downloaded file, which will open in the eduroamCAT application
- If necessary, grant eduroamCAT permission to access this downloaded file
- Install the configuration profile
- When prompted, enter your username in the special format:
- username@knet.kzoo.edu like k12ab34@knet.kzoo.edu or khornet@knet.kzoo.edu
- When prompted, enter your KNET password
- Scroll down to tap “Install”
- Your device will connect to the eduroam network
- If necessary, forget the KCollegeOpen network
macOS – Laptop

- Make sure you’re connected to the internet already. If you want, you can get temporary internet access to start.
- Remember this special format for entering your username:

- Visit eduroam CAT (cat.eduroam.org) to download the eduroam installer. There, you will:
- Tap to download the Kalamazoo College eduroam installer
- Choose “Kalamazoo College” as your organization
- Tap to download the eduroam installer
- Open the downloaded file
- Click through the profile installer, entering your username in this special format:
- username@knet.kzoo.edu like k12ab34@knet.kzoo.edu or khornet@knet.kzoo.edu
- When prompted, enter your K College password
- If prompted for your Mac administrator password, enter it
- If necessary, forget the KCollegeOpen network
Windows – Laptop or Desktop
Here’s how K students, faculty, and staff can join the eduroam network on an Windows laptop or desktop. These instructions assume you have an internet connection connection. No connection? Get temporary internet access to start.
- Make sure you’re connected to the internet already. If you want, you can get temporary internet access to start.
- Remember this special format for entering your username:

- Visit eduroam CAT (cat.eduroam.org) to download the eduroam installer. There, you will:
- Tap to download the Kalamazoo College eduroam installer
- Choose “Kalamazoo College” as your organization
- Tap to download the eduroam installer
- Run the downloaded file
- Click through the installer, entering your username in this special format:
- username@knet.kzoo.edu like k12ab34@knet.kzoo.edu or khornet@knet.kzoo.edu
- When prompted, enter your K College password
- Confirm the installation of the certificate from Kalamazoo-College-Network-Cert-Authority, with thumbprint: 070B4BEC 46630EFC C8CF859D 6E837BB5 83827134
- If necessary, forget the KCollegeOpen network
Using eduroam at another institution
If you configured eduroam on your device before leaving K, it should automatically connect to eduroam when visiting a participating institution. Members of the K College community should contact the Help Desk with any questions.
Visitors connecting to eduroam at K
If your device was configured before leaving your home institution, it should automatically connect to eduroam. If your device was not configured before you left or you have problems connecting to eduroam, please contact your home institution eduroam support staff for assistance.
