To prevent computer viruses spreading within the Kalamazoo College Network, all computers connected to the Kalamazoo College Network are required to have a current, up-to-date antivirus application installed. This requirement includes all computers whether they be student-owned, faculty- or staff-owned, or college-owned computers.
Computer Virus Policy
The Kalamazoo College Computer Virus policy is enforced through the Network Registration process when using the KSecure network. (The eduroam network does not require proof of antivirus.) Part of this process is running the Dissolvable Agent, which detects your computer’s up-to-date antivirus software and allows your computer on the network.
There are a wide variety of antivirus products available to consumers. Products popular among K College students include free products like Windows Defender (built into Windows 8 and later) and Sophos Anti-Virus Mac Home Edition (Mac, free).
